YOUR WEDDING
Being a beautiful and ancient building, the church of St Michael's is the ideal place to hold your special day. Every individual wedding is tailored to the happy couple’s requirements, including choice of hymns or music and readings etc. A member of the clergy team meets with each couple to detail their exact requirements and to ensure the service will run smoothly.
Details and prices are available on application. The cost includes all legal fee's payable (except an optional Copyright license for videoing the service), the organist, and a contribution towards the maintenance and running costs of the church.
We have installed a sound system to play CD's, (though they should be checked to ensure they play properly), and flower arrangements, bell-ringers and a choir are also available, subject to availability, should you require it, each for an extra fee.
Early in the New Year we hold a wedding preparation day where all the practical issues of being married and the day itself are explained and you will get a chance to meet the clergy team, one of whom will be conducting the service.

Current legislation states; that to be married within a church you should either live inside the parish boundaries or be a regular worshipper at the church and be on their electoral roll otherwise a special license should be applied for.
However, from October 1st 2008, these rules will be widened, opening the doors to many couples that would like to be married in Church.
The new rules include, as well as the existing ones,
-
one or both of the couple was baptised or prepared for confirmation in the parish
-
one or both of the couple has ever lived in the parish for six months or more
-
one or both of the couple has at any time regularly attended public worship in the parish for six months or more
-
one or more of thier parents has lived in the parish for six months or more during their child's lifetime
-
one or more of their parents has regularly attended public worship there for six months or more in their child's lifetime
-
their parents and/or grandparents were married in the parish
If you are interested in being married at St Michael's please contact a member of the clergy team or Mr Darryl East, Lay Chair of the PCC on 01375 857958.
